Personal Information:

Interviewer: Tell us about yourself, Gaylord.

Gaylord: I was born in Texas, lived in England for 14 years, came to East Bay in 1980, and have lived here ever since. I was interested in over-population issues as early on as the 1960s after becoming aware of Paul Ehrlich's writings on the subject, but the green revolution happened, it seemed less a problem, and my interest faded into the background. I was always interested in peripheral areas to this, such as public transportation, recycling, and careful consumption rather than conspicuous consumption. I did continue at that point to celebrate holidays, and to fly around on vacations etc.

Interviewer: How did you get involved with the subject of peak oil?

Gaylord: After reading From the Wilderness (Ruppert) I got interested in the subject. I visited a number of web sites, joined discussion lists as I passed them by, and this eventually led to the early meetings with other regional peak oil personalities and stalwarts Richard Katz, Alice Friedemann, Dave Room, etc. I presently maintain the keys to the library for the East Bay Rockridge meeting, and determine its agenda, and try to live my own life in as low an energy life as possible. See the above Woody Allen quote to understand my vision of the future.
