Personal Information: My story begins with my father's story - a kid from Maryland who married into a Standard Oil family and found himself working in Bogota, Colombia. That's where I was born. Oil took our family to Venezuela (Lake Maracaibo, Caracas) Iraq (Basra), Kuwait(Kuwait City) and other exotic locales. Fast forward: SolFest in the summer of 2004, I meet Julian Darley working the Post Carbon booth under a huge PV array powering the Real Goods store and "campus." Two weeks later (I have been to Post Carbon and downloaded all the flyer PDF's_) I'm handing out brochures at Power to The Peaceful, at my booth (1000 Postcards for Peace) and two spaces over I meet David Room, also of the Post Carbon Institute. I guess that was some sort of catalyst - because a few weeks later I tooke over the defunct Meetup Group, and met Dennis Brumm. SF Oil Awareness is born. Two years later: Dennis and friends got the country's FIRST Peak Oil resolution passed in San Francisco. Mike has screened End Of Suburbia several times and sold about a case of them at tabling opportunities too numerous to mention. I have printed up about 7500 Peak Oil postcards and given them away at lectures, rallies, and other public events. Today, (after a brief medical hiatus) you will find me on the streets of San Francisco promoting the Oil Poster, handing out postcards and looking for a free theater that will seat 50. Farmers Market, Powell St. Station, and most rallies - look for my silhouette! (1MF.ORG) |
