What do we do?Share InformationThe once a month meeting is a place where the latest information is exchanged. This includes personal research information such as important articles read, web sites discovered and new and interesting books. In addition, dvds and web videos are shown. When available, speakers are invited. Anything qualifies if it brings good information to the meeting. The group tries to be the best place to go to have ideas challenged regarding Peak Oil. The group then uses this information to push the message out into the larger community. This isn't meant to be a project (see next section). Handing out material at the Syriana film is a good example of how a well informed group could be mobilized on short notice. Support ProjectsThere have been a number of projects started in the last year. The San Francisco Post Carbon group is managing the Oil Age Poster project, Dave Room is starting the Bay Area Relocalization Assessment project, Loni has a neighborhood project, Jason Meggs has Plan B. Jan Lundberg manages Culture Change. The Solutions group put on Beyond Oil II. Permaculture Army is now established. As the pace picks up, more projects will get started. The East Bay Peak Oil group decided not to sponsor projects, but rather to support projects. With so many projects already in existence, East Bay Peak Oil can easily answer the question when a person asks - what can I do? They are directed to one of the ongoing projects. In addition Project Managers come to the monthly meeting to recruit new people and give progress reports. Low-Energy LivingAll of the activities around information sharing and project support are a waste of time if some actual energy isn't being saved. The East Bay Peak Oil group tries to be in the forefront in demonstrating lifestyle change. To contact us, please email ebpo@sfbayoil.org Meeting InformationThird Wednesday of the month |
